About The Rusty Dog

I believe that as pet owners it is up to us to give the gift of the best possible life to our pets. In order of importance: Nutrition, Love and Affection, Training, Grooming, Fun and Exercise.

Dogs and their welfare have always been a big part of my life. In 1989 I acquired show dogs which then led me into the enjoyment of all of the Dog Sports: Showing, Agility, Obedience, Fly Ball, Scent Hurdles, Lure Coursing, etc. with both my Vizslas and Whippet.

The most common question and topic of conversation is what do you feed your dog which also led to questioning the rise of so many illnesses seen in our pets today, so I began to research.

Nutrition was the first and foremost issue, which led to the dangers and questionable ingredients of the commercial foods that were available for pets. Then the questions came: What's really is in those bags I am dragging home and feeding to my beloved pets? How old is this product? What nutritional value does it REALLY HAVE as I disregarded the hype on those bags, and the ingredients list that tells you nothing. Why do so many pet products say NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION? What a RED FLAG this is, and yet we've become accustomed to the warning. So how bad is it? I wanted to know WHAT AM I REALLY FEEDING MY DOGS?

All I can say is what an education I have gained. Through my research I became educated about WHAT'S REALLY IN DOG FOOD, along with the dangers of unnecessary inoculations of vaccines and how important it is to be educated enough to ask questions and look up the side effects of the drugs so commonly recommended before you agree to let your pets receive these drugs.

I have learned to turn to MOTHER NATURE first. Today there are so many natural resources available and many people educated about the proper applications of these remedies. More often than not, these remedies can solve problems without risking the dangers and side effects realized from many traditional treatments.
